Switzerland educational style

The Swiss education system is highly decentralized, with each of the 26 cantons having its own authority over education. However, there are some general principles that apply throughout Switzerland.

Compulsory education lasts for 11 years, starting at kindergarten and ending at lower secondary school. After that, students can choose to attend either upper secondary school or vocational education and training (VET).

Upper secondary school is a three-year program that prepares students for university. It offers a broad curriculum in academic subjects such as mathematics, science, languages, and humanities.

VET is a two-year apprenticeship program that prepares students for careers in specific trades. It combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction.

 Switzerland is known for its high-quality VET system. Around two-thirds of Swiss students choose to attend VET after lower secondary school. VET graduates are in high demand from employers, and they have excellent job prospects.

The Swiss education system is also known for its focus on student-centered learning. Teachers are encouraged to create a positive and supportive learning environment where students can thrive. Students are also given opportunities to develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

 Overall, the Swiss education system is well-respected and produces highly skilled and employable graduates.
